Hi all. My son jus turned 1year old on the 24.. I bought him a pair of shoes. I really lookin forward to watch him take his first steps.. I wanted to ask if there are ways to encourage him to take steps?? Or sum how guide him?? I know all babies learn at their own paste & all.. im curious, how old was your baby when he/she took their first steps??
All I will say is this:
Evolution is not a slow crawl, but a series of leaps and jerks.
Why? When ours was little, I'd thought it would all come gradually.
What seems to happen though, is the same thing happens in technology or anything else: one discovery leads to another, and some discoveries have more breakthrough results than others.
So, if he's standing on his legs holding onto something, the only discovery waiting to happen is that he can balance without holding onto anything. Once that happens, taking a wobbly step or two or several will come.
I wouldn't concern yourself with it, provided he's generally active and getting exercise, crawling around, standing up and holding onto things, etc.
Just my thoughts.
Another thing.. you shouldn't really put shoes on your baby until he starts walking outdoors.. they say that learning to walk on his bear feet will actually help a baby establish his balance more quickly and efficiently. Just a suggestion..
Update: Well my son finally took his first steps on tues morning...ou of nowhere he stood up and took 4 wobbly steps to me and gave me a hug. I tried not to get all excited and scare him. But he did soo good. Later that day i got him to do it 4 other times and recorded him on my camera. Im still teaching/helping him with the shoes, without and a walking toy. He likes pushing a chair to help him. And he still get a lil scared when i stand him up. But he seems to like when he goes take steps. And i plan to do some outdoor walking with him to see how he does there. Omg he is growing sooooo fast but im excited.
that's good. don't disturb or interept him while he's trying on his own. just stay far and watch what he's doing instead. so that he'll learn faster. just my own experience.

Awww, wonderful. *smiles* Glad to hear he just got up and did it on his own.
I will. Im just glad he does when he wants even if its 4 to 6 steps.
Thanks! Me too, it was unexpected, lol.
